Role
Art Director & Production Designer
Challenge
Create a flexible and cohesive visual identity for the Kovler Diabetes Center at UChicago Medicine, along with a wide range of consumer-facing materials. The work needed to communicate complex medical information in a clear, compassionate way while supporting diverse audiences—including teens, caregivers, and adults managing diabetes. It also had to accommodate collaborations with other departments and maintain consistency across all touchpoints.
Solution
I began by designing a logo that could adapt to various initiatives and program needs, with input from the marketing team. From there, I developed a suite of materials including educational brochures (such as “Managing Your Diabetes” and “In Transit: Guiding Adolescents, Teens & Young Adults with Diabets”), event postcards, community newsletters, and partnership collateral. Each piece was designed to feel accessible and inviting, using bright colors, inclusive imagery, and clean layouts to convey trust and clarity. Special care was taken to reflect the diversity of the Center’s patients and to reinforce its connection to groundbreaking research and clinical care.
Outcome
The final branding and materials gave the Kovler Diabetes Center a professional yet approachable presence that resonated with patients and partners alike. The collateral improved health literacy, supported patient engagement, and strengthened outreach efforts across both standalone and collaborative programs. The work contributed to a more unified, impactful identity for the Center—online, in print, and in the community.
