Challenge
Redesign the 50-year-old logo for the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs (JCUA), a respected nonprofit addressing social justice issues across Chicago. The new identity needed to modernize the organization’s visual presence while representing the diversity of both its community and its causes.
Solution
I developed a refreshed logo that maintained a sense of heritage while introducing a more inclusive and contemporary aesthetic. The mark was designed to reflect the interconnectedness of JCUA’s work—spanning racial justice, housing, immigration, and beyond—through abstract shapes and symbolism representing unity and diversity. Typography and color choices were carefully selected to feel both rooted and forward-looking.
Outcome
The new logo gave JCUA a vibrant, modern identity that reflects its evolving mission and community focus. It now serves as a cohesive visual anchor across print, digital, and advocacy materials—supporting the organization's continued impact and visibility across Chicago and beyond.
